Our Legacy:
The story of the famous “Muttikulangara oil” is seven generations old, where one of their ancestors Velandi Vaidyar found a herbal leaf during his fishing expeditions. Legend has it that he cleaned and kept fresh pieces of fish wrapped in a leaf from the nearby tree. On reaching home, no cuts were visible on the pieces and surprisingly they were seen joined.
The Vaidyar’s village which is located near the western Ghats is naturally blessed with forests that homes a variety of rare medicinal plants. Mixing the medicinal leaf and other rare combination of herbs with coconut oil as a base, he thus created the miracle medicine. The product was called Muttikulangara oil, reflecting the name of place of origin
The Pioneers
Sri K. Prabhakaran Vaidyar
Prabhakaran Vaidyar (1925-1997) Son of Kandu Vaidyar , even in his teens, started this Vaidyasala in 1946. In span of 50 years, was able to give pain relief to thousands of people. People who have fractured limbs were admitted and treated in his house itself. His patients mainly hailed from neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu. For the treatments of bedridden patients, he used to travel various parts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
The present proprietor Sri Muralidharan S/o Prabhakaran Vaidyar(late) find solace to giving relief to his patients. He is following the footsteps of his father in the treatment and preparation of Muttikulangara Oil amply guided by two Ayurveda Doctors Dr. Sruthy Viswanath and Dr. Deekshitha P R
